THE DOLL'S HOUSE
The Doll’s House is an adaptation of Katherine Mansfield’s short story of the same name. It is an interactive cyclical animation, that moves only when you move the mouse. In the animation, the child, under instruction from her mother, uses her building blocks to encase herself into a large structure. Once complete, the structure collapses and the child is forced to begin again. Its interactivity is supposed to symbolize society forcing the little girl into a life of domesticity. Not only is her mother instructing her, but the action of turning the handle makes the viewer equally complicit in the indoctrination of the child.
